Linkr is an extension for the Joomla! Content Management System. Use it to link articles, menu items, and even contacts, while editing content. Linkr can also add bookmarking links such as Digg and Del.icio.us (or whichever for that matter), and links to related articles to encourage your users to read more! The extension was designed to be hassle free, clean, and as simple as possible.

Differences from Linkr 1

  • Link menu items and contacts
  • Use images as links
  • Add bookmarking links
  • Add links to related articles
  • Links are never broken, even when changing SEF solutions

Supported SEF solutions

  • Joomla!'s core SEF - tested
  • sh404SEF - tested
  • SmartSEF - tested
  • ARTIO JoomSEF - not tested, but should work
  • SEF Advance - too expensive, but should work
  • Any SEF solution, if properly coded, should work

Requirements

  • Joomla! 1.5.1 [sennu] or later
  • Joomla! 1.5.0 or 1.0.X wont be able to run Linkr!

Installation

The extension is made up of three files: the editor button, the component and the plugin.

  1. Download those three files from JoomlaCode.org
  2. Install the button (plg.linkr_button...) through the administration area of your site (Administrator >> Extensions >> Install/Uninstall)
  3. Install the plugin (plg.linkr_content...) and the component (com.linkr...) the same way
  4. Browse to Administrator >> Extensions >> Plugin Manager to activate the button (Editor Button - Linkr) and the plugin (Content - Linkr)
  5. Your now set. Get to Linking!

Known bugs

  • Email gets messed up by "Email Cloaking" plugin when using an image as a link
  • When more than one menu item links to the same article, Linkr defaults to the first one
  • Links to the homepage sometimes link back to the article
